Weymouth Golf Club’s senior section invited Tom Lane from STEPS – Centre for Young People as the club’s honoured guest at their Christmas lunch.
Following the festivities enjoyed by more than 100 senior members, senior captain Tristan Murless presented Mr lane with a cheque for £1,355.
The donation was raised through raffle ticket sales held during the Senior Captain’s Home and Away Day competitions earlier in the year. The club said that the contribution ‘reflects the ongoing generosity and community spirit’ of the club’s senior section, who have supported STEPS throughout the season.
Adding to the occasion, Kevin Brookes, representing the Rollup section, presented Mr Lane with a further cheque for £290, raised from raffle ticket sales at their own Christmas Dinner.
Together, the donations total £1,645, providing valuable support to STEPS and its work with young people across the Weymouth area.
Mr Murless said: “STEPS plays a vital role in supporting young people locally, and it’s fantastic to see our members come together to help such an important cause. We’re proud to contribute and hope it makes a real difference.”
