Volkswagen Golf GTI Sold Out In India Even Before Launch!


The official bookings for the Volkswagen Golf GTI performance hatchback commenced on 5th May, 2025. It seems that the hot-hatch has been received so well that its first batch of 150 units sold out even before the price announcement. These units were allotted via an online quiz. The Golf GTI is yet to receive an official launch date; however, it’s expected to hit showrooms in the coming weeks.

Deliveries of the model will start in June at select Volkswagen dealerships. While prices will be revealed in the coming days, the VW Golf GTI is expected to cost around Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).

Power, Top Speed, Performance:

Starting with its powerhouse, the Volkswagen Golf GTI uses a 2.0L TSI engine, pushing out a massive power of 265bhp and 370Nm of torque. The hot-hatch is claimed to do 0 to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, and offer a maximum speed of 250kmph. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox delivers power to the front wheels. It also comes with an electronically controlled front-axle differential lock, the optional adaptive suspension and progressive steering with variable steering rack and pinion gearing further enhancing its performance.

Sporty Interior:

The interior of the VW Golf GTI has sporty appeal with the leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, featuring a GTI badge in the centre and tartan seat upholstery. It also comes with features such as a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, wireless charging, a 7-speaker sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lights and more.

Design & Colours:

The hot-hatch will come four colour options – Oryx White, Kings Red, Grenadilla Black and Moonstone Grey Black. Design elements such as a large honeycomb pattered air dam, LED headlamps, an illuminated VW logo in the centre, 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers, smoked LED taillamps, twin exhaust tips and a pronounced roof spoiler give it a sporty appeal.
