The Supreme Test – Golf Poetry

THE SUPREME TEST

THE suitor warmly pressed his suit;
(You know the suit I mean) ;
The father listened patiently —
His daughter was a queen.

"How do you know you love my girl?"
Then asked the cautious dad.
The suitor said : "I've golfed with her,
And love her still, by Gad!"

"I've seen it, too," her father cried,
Then meekly bowed his head.
Her one best hole was seventeen —
She's yours !" the old man said.
