To the Editor:
Things I’ve never seen anywhere else: Four golf carts on a Par 3, swinging three times and never hitting the golf ball, shanking three golf balls dead right with the last hitting a sandhill crane (after being told he almost hit the crane), swinging and missing then connecting on the backswing, hitting the ball backwards.
The most startling was the golfer in the group in front of us forgetting his club left on the green at Okeechobee Number 3 and driving his golf cart across the green to retrieve it. We actually could see the tire tracks when we went to putt. I have played with people who admit they have never struck a golf ball. They should be taking lessons or at least hitting balls on the range. They should learn about the etiquette of golf before going on the course. We moved from West Palm Beach where we lived and golfed for 30 years, probably conservatively played 100 different courses in and around Florida and these are just a few things I’ve seen in the three years I’ve played here.
