A golf event raised £750 for a West Cumbrian care home.
The Big Golf Company hosted a sold-out Texas Scramble Tournament yesterday, Good Friday, April 18, at Seascale Golf Club, bringing together 148 players from 37 teams across the region.
It raised £750 for MHA Amathea Care Home in Workington.
The day’s most heart-warming highlight was undoubtedly the Beat Florence Challenge on Hole 10 – a nearest-the-pin contest where players faced off against 9-year-old Cumbrian golfing prodigy, Florence Martindale.
For a minimum £5 donation, golfers took their swing in hopes of beating Florence and winning a Luxury Callaway AI Smoke Golf Bag. Florence’s impressive play and infectious energy made her a true star of the show, said organisers.

The tournament winners were rewarded with a VIP experience at Bolton Wanderers FC, including a Meet and Greet with The Big Golf Company team, a Chairman’s Suite pre-match meal, and seats in the Director’s Box for a matchday to remember.
Chris North, CEO of The Big Golf Company, said: “A huge thank you to Adam and the fantastic team at Seascale Golf Club for delivering such a brilliant day.
“And to all the golfers – you were a credit to the game. Fun, generous and respectful – the spirit of the day was just incredible. I know the residents at MHA Amathea will be over the moon with what we’ve raised.”

The tournament is part of The Big Golf Company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Cumbrian golf community and making a positive impact locally.
The team will be attending Lady Captain’s Day at Workington Golf Club on June 22, as they continue their summer of golf, giving, and good times.
