SOUTH PITTSBURG, TEN. – The Ohio Men’s Golf team wrapped up their rounds at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate this afternoon (March 26) at the Sweetens Cove Golf Club. The three-day event, held from March 24-26 in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, was hosted by Miami (OH) and featured a bracket-style tournament with eight teams, including the Bobcats. After three competitive rounds, Ohio secured a sixth-place finish.
Entering the tournament as the No. 7 seed, the Bobcats opened play against No. 2 seed Austin Peay State on the first day. Despite a hard-fought battle, Ohio fell to Austin Peay by a score of 4.5-1.5, moving them into the first consolation round against Northern Kentucky.
On the second day, Ohio faced No. 6 seed Northern Kentucky. The Bobcats showcased strong performances against the Norse, edging out a 3.5-2.5 victory. With the win, Ohio advanced to the fifth-place match against Belmont.
In the final round on day three, Ohio took on No. 8 seed Belmont with hopes of securing fifth place. The Bobcats engaged in a back-and-forth contest with the Bruins, but ultimately came up short, falling 4-2 to conclude the tournament in sixth place overall.
Next, Ohio will travel to Ijamsville, Maryland, to compete in the Testudo Cup. The two-day event, hosted by the University of Maryland, will take place at the PB Dye Golf Club from April 5-6.
