Newcastle Eyeing ‘Elite’ £78m Striker Alongside Wissa

Newcastle United are now eyeing a move to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko after Alexander Isak confirmed that he wanted to leave the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed on Thursday that Isak has asked to leave the club this summer, amid interest from Premier League giants Liverpool. The Magpies remain insistent that he is not for sale, but the Swedish striker has now asked to be left at home rather than travelling to Singapore for their pre-season tour.

If Isak does go through the exit door, then Newcastle fans will undoubtedly be expecting their club to invest heavily in signing a replacement, considering his importance to the side. They’ll have plenty of money to do so, with the North East club likely to demand a significant amount to allow him to depart.

Described as ‘elite’ by analyst EBL, Sesko looks set to move on this summer, with Romano also confirming that there is a gentleman’s agreement between Leipzig and the striker for him to leave for a fee which could total in the region of £78m.

Losing Isak would be a huge blow, but Sesko has a fantastic goalscoring record in Europe at a young age. There’s a chance the Magpies would only use half of the money they’d receive for Isak on buying Sesko, meaning they could strengthen in multiple other positions.
