Raleigh, NC – On Friday and Saturday, the La Salle men’s golf team traveled south to compete in the Stitch Intercollegiate Tournament at Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University.
The 54-hole event was initially scheduled for 36 holes on Friday and the final 18 on Saturday, but inclement weather disrupted play. Despite the conditions, each member of the Explorer lineup managed to complete at least 20 holes on the opening day, with the remaining holes carried over into Saturday.
The Explorers placed 13th as a team with a final score of +51.
Individually, freshman Payton Hawke paced the Blue and Gold. He shot +5 through 32 holes on Saturday to finish tied for 57th with an overall score of +12.
Junior Benjamin Battye and senior Alex Gekas each carded +13, placing just inside the top 60. Battye also recorded the lowest single-round score for La Salle, firing an even-par 71 on Saturday.
Sophomore Gavin Dosch and junior Armand Loscalzo rounded out the Explorers’ efforts in North Carolina, shooting +15 and +20 respectively.
Up next, the Explorers head to Orlando, Florida, where they’ll compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships.
