It’s claimed Liverpool is moving quickly in the January transfer window to find a replacement for Conor Bradley, with the club eager to strengthen the squad ahead of a busy run of games.

Despite widespread reports that Liverpool won’t make any new signings this month, injury problems continue to trouble Arne Slot’s squad. The latest blow came with Jeremie Frimpong’s setback, leaving the Reds with just five fit senior defenders to cover the entire backline. Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are sidelined for the season, while Frimpong is expected to miss several weeks.

Joe Gomez has also recently suffered an injury, increasing the pressure on Liverpool with only five defenders available to cover the backline.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Reds are actively searching for a replacement for Bradley, who will be sidelined for several months with a knee injury.

Despite speculation linking Julian Ryerson with a move from Borussia Dortmund, he is not currently on Liverpool’s radar.

Slot is taking a measured approach, prioritizing long-term solutions over short-term fixes for the right-back position.

Liverpool is exploring several options to bolster their squad, with reports suggesting the club has made inquiries to Inter Milan about Dutch full-back Denzel Dumfries, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

Dumfries, however, has been sidelined since November with an ankle injury that required surgery and has yet to make a return.

During the Trent Alexander-Arnold exit saga, Liverpool considered a number of replacements, including Frimpong and Benfica’s Amar Dedic.

At the time, CaughtOffside reported that Liverpool had sought information on Dedic, who was then at Red Bull Salzburg, describing him as “the most realistic target” given the Austrian club’s willingness to sell key players to top European sides.

The 23-year-old Bosnia and Herzegovina international has previously expressed interest in playing in the Premier League, which could open the door for Liverpool.

Transfermarkt has also flagged Dedic as a potential signing, calling him a “fascinating option” due to his ability to operate on both the right and left sides of the defence, offering added depth to Slot’s backline.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool entering the transfer market makes sense given the team’s current injury crisis. With key right-backs sidelined, targeting a young, adaptable player could provide immediate cover while also investing in the club’s long-term defensive depth.

Missing out on someone like Dumfries isn’t fatal, but securing a proven, flexible option should be a priority before the window closes.
