Davis’ suspension has been issued for an incident that happened in the 27th minute, but wasn’t seen by match officials at the time, during Ipswich’s recent 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Portman Road.
The Town defender admitted the charge, but claimed the FA’s punishment was ‘clearly excessive’. An independent Regulatory Commission dismissed this and imposed the standard punishment for violent conduct.
He will now miss Ipswich’s games against Sheffield Wednesday (A), Millwall (H) and Birmingham City (H).

The news comes off the back of the Blues feeling a major sense of injustice around refereeing decisions in their last two games.
John Busby didn’t award Ipswich what looked to be stonewall spot-kick deep into stoppage-time against Leicester when Hamza Choudhury bundled Cedric Kipre over in the box, with manager Kieran McKenna subsequently revealing the PGMOL had admitted Ipswich should have had two penalties in that game.
Town then had a soft penalty given against them deep into added time at Stoke on Tuesday night. It was converted, the game finishing 3-3 as a result, with McKenna calling the decision ‘beyond irony’ and revealing two days later that the PGMOL had once again admitted it was a wrong call.
On Davis’ ban, Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton said: “Following a week of frustration regarding officiating, I am incensed by the timing, process and outcome regarding this incident.
“We are currently awaiting written reasons, which we expect to be full, clear and transparent, and will reserve the club’s position until that point.”
