Sam Burns surged into the lead at the end of Friday after carding a 5-under 65 on Saturday to finish 36 holes at 3-under par. First-round leader J.J. Spaun gave two shots back with a second-round 72 to settle into second place at 2-under, followed by Victor Hovland (-1), Adam Scott (E) and Ben Griffin (E) going into the third round.
Among the players who still have to complete the second round is sixth-place Thriston Lawrence, who is 4-over with one hole left to play.
