Hearts transfer mega hype explodes as 2005 cult hero raves about January signing he reckons will rip Gorgie up

The Premiership leaders have agreed a deal to sign Islam Chesnokov from homeland club Tobol in January when his contract expires.

Hearts cult hero Saulius Mikoliunas has backed incoming Kazakhstan international winger Islam Chesnokov to make a big impact when he moves to Tynecastle in the next transfer window.

The Premiership leaders have agreed a deal to sign Chesnokov from homeland club Tobol in January when his contract expires.

Chesnokov’s pre-agreement is a welcome boost with it unlikely Tony Bloom will be pumping more cash in for January because UEFA rules won’t allow them.

Now Mikoliunas – who is the all-time most capped player for Lithuania and won a Scottish Cup with Hearts during a four year spell in the capital – believes the 25-year-old could be a smart investment for his former club under the guidance Bloom.

He said: “I see in Islam Chesnokov a brave player with a very good left foot.He is technically very gifted, physically strong and is a prolific goalscorer with his club.

“He has all the qualities to succeed in Scotland, so I don’t think there will be any difficulties when he goes there.

“It’s important to consider the high pace and pressure of the Scottish league, but he will get used to it in two or three weeks.

“My advice to him would be to learn the language as quickly as possible.

“I don’t know about Chesnokov’s English, but he needs to understand his manager’s philosophy and adapt to it.

“He will also have to accept criticism from the media when things go wrong, as I certainly did!
