Sky Sports on-course commentator Wayne ‘Radar’ Riley ripped into PGA Tour pro Matti Schmid for his lethargic pace of play during the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Country Club.
Riley was striding the fairways with Schmid, who was playing alongside Ben Griffin and John Pak in the final group on a hot and windy Saturday in Ohio.
The long-time Sky Sports Golf announcer made his feelings be known about Schmid while he was playing the par-4 17th.
Schmid hit a wayward drive into the left trees and he was forced to layup into the middle of the fairway.
The 27-year-old German, who is going in search of his maiden PGA Tour title, then took an absolute age over his third shot.
Two minutes and 21 seconds to be precise.
As Schmid settled in to his third shot, he backed off as the wind began to pick up.
“He likes a back off this guy,” said Riley.
“He’s done it a couple of times I’ve noticed.”
Schmid then spoke about the shot some more with his caddie before settling in again.
But after looking like he was about to pull the trigger, he once again stepped back.
“Look, he’s backing off again!” said Riley.

“I feel like we’ve been standing over this shot for 20 minutes,” said Riley.

“This guy has thrown the anchor out, he’s a really slow player,” said Riley.
“I’m not sure if he’s always like this but it’s the first time I’ve been out with him.
“He likes to back off and he takes about 28,000 practice strokes and then hits it.
“He seems to be getting slower as well. He’s definitely feeling it.
“I’m really good at looking into their eyes. He looks dazed.”
Schmid putted up to 12 feet and made the bogey putt to remain in a tie for the lead.
He then made par on the par-4 18th for a round of 2-under 68.
Schmid now finds himself in a tie for the 54-hole lead on 13-under par alongside Griffin, who also carded a 68.
Griffin is looking to capture a second PGA Tour title this season.
He won his first title alongside Andrew Novak in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event last month.
Griffin is ranked 52nd in the world, while Schmid is down in 125th.
Schmid was criticsed for slow play by Riley
Rickie Fowler vaulted up into solo third on 9-under courtesy of a 67.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre (64) is a further shot back at 8-under par alongside Nick Hardy (67) and Akshay Bhatia (69).
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler matched MacIntyre’s 64 to push himself up into the top 10 on 7-under par.
Scheffler has never won the Charles Schwab Challenge despite a number of close calls.
He is looking to win a third straight title on the PGA Tour having won The CJ Cup Byron Nelson and his third career major at the US PGA.
