Nedim Bajrami has been out in the cold at Rangers but remains a key man for his country and his international manager has spoken out
Albania boss Sylvinho says Nedim Bajrami has told him he’s ‘not satisfied’ with how things are going at Ibrox – and he’s not happy with his star’s position either.
But he’s defended his selection of the forgotten Rangers midfielder, who is set to play a starring role as they edge closer to making World Cup history.
Bajrami looks set to star for his country in their World Cup double-header against Andorra and England.
They currently sit second behind the already qualified Three Lions in Group K and they stand a chance of making it via the playoffs in March – and potentially reaching their first ever World Cup finals.
Bajrami has been completely overlooked this season by both axed former boss Russell Martin and new manager Danny Rohl.
He has started just one game this term – a League Cup tie against Alloa, where he scored and hasn’t featured at all for Rangers since he came on as a late sub in Martin’s last game as boss at Falkirk. He was also omitted from Rangers’ Europa League squad.
But the 26-year-old remains a key man for Albania and scored for them in his last match – a friendly win against Jordan.
And Brazilian boss Sylvinho has stressed he still has faith in him.
He pointed out: “Bajrami has been part of a very good journey with us.
“Do you know who our top scorer has been in the last three years? It’s Bajrami with seven goals.
“So I want players who know how to score goals in my squad.
“It’s true that I am not happy or satisfied with his position at his club. And he is not satisfied either.
“But I look at his numbers and have faith in him.”
