Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell joined Birmingham City this time last year and enjoyed a productive loan spell
Former Birmingham City midfielder Kieran Dowell could return to the Championship this month with Hull City.
Dowell starred for Blues during a loan spell last season, scoring five goals and making five assists in 23 appearances, before returning to Rangers in the summer.
Russell Martin gave Dowell a chance at Ibrox before removing him from the first team picture and the 28-year-old hasn’t found favour under new boss Danny Rohl.
Dowell played six games for Rangers in July and August with his last outing coming in a 4-2 victory over Alloa almost five months ago.
Dowell only has six months left on his contract at Rangers and looks set to move back to England this month with Hull – who are currently seventh in the Championship – keen to sign him.
Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed Dowell is ‘one of the options’ on his radar but they are currently working under transfer restrictions and must offload someone before they can add.
Dowell must therefore wait to reignite his career in England. The League One title winner has fared well in the Championship previously to win promotion to the Premier League with Sheffield United and Norwich City.
