Florida State wins the 2025 ACC Women’s Golf Championship, their first-ever in program history

Second-seeded Florida State defeated fourth-seeded Wake Forest, 3-2, in the match-play final of the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Saturday, April 19, at Sedgefield Country Club. The Seminoles earned their first ACC title in program history after finishing as the runner-up eight times. The Demon Deacons were the defending champs.

“With everything going on, the girls really stayed where their feet are, played some really good golf, and got it done,” said Seminole head coach Amy Bond. “I’m super excited; we have waited a long time for this, and it was well deserved by our crew against a very good Wake Forest squad.

“We’ve been talking about one shot, one hole and they showed a lot of grit. That’s what you’ve got to do in golf and especially in match play. You never quite know what you are going to come up against, and they fought through it no matter how much they were down and got the job done when they needed to.”

FSU was participating in its third match-play final, a relatively new format for deciding the ACC Championship. It was their first match-play final since 2022 on Saturday.

Mirabel Ting got FSU on the board first, going five up with four holes remaining. FSU then fell behind 2-1 as Sophia Fullbrook was knocked off (4&3) and Lottie Woad came up short (2&1). Kaylah Williams evened things back up with a birdie on the 18th hole (1UP). It all came down to Alexandra Gazzoli, who won with a par on 18 (1UP).

“We’ve waited a long time for this and I’m super-proud of them,” Bond added.

The Seminoles are expected to earn a No. 1 seed in one of six NCAA regional championships when the NCAA Championships field is announced on Wednesday (April 23) at 1:00 p.m. on the Golf Channel. This would mark the first time in school history the Seminoles have earned a No. 1 regional seed.

Florida State is ranked No. 3 in the most recent NCAA poll and No. 4 in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches poll.
