Filip Rozga a Celtic transfer target as Hoops reignite interest in Sturm Graz starlet

Rogza is a Poland international and caught the eye against Celtic in the Europa League earlier this season

Celtic are hot on the trail of Sturm Graz star Filip Rozga.

The Scottish champions declared their interest in the Polish international back in January.

Sturm Graz had just purchased him from Cracovia in the summer for around £1.75 million and weren’t keen to sell their exciting, attacking midfielder in the first available window.

Celtic are continuing to scout the talented 19-year-old and are expected to try again in the summer. Rozga also did well against the Hoops in the Europa League, where he set up Sturm Graz’s goal in their 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park.

The 19-year-old won his two full caps for Poland last year and is tipped to be one of their future stars. He can play as a central attacking midfielder but can also play wide on either flank or as a central striker.

Sturm Graz are currently top of the table and would be more open to selling at the end of this campaign. He had made 28 appearances for the Austrians and has scored twice.

Celtic made a number of moves in the January window but they were all loan moves, although they also have options to buy.

Tomas Cvancara has come in from Borussia Monchengladbach, Junior Adamu from SC Freiburg and Joel Mvuka arrived from Lorient on similar agreements.

The trio have had varying degrees of success.

The Celtic recruitment team is also looking towards the summer and there is where Sturm’s Rozga is high on their radar.

Sturm Graz sold Tochi Chukwuani to Rangers for around £4 million in the January window.

They have had strong Scottish links and have taken under-21 cap Rory Wilson on-loan from Aston Villa for the season.

He has been a regular in their first-team squad since he got his international clearance.

They previously signed Scottish international Max Johnston from Motherwell back in 2023.

He won back-to-back titles before he was sold to Derby County in the summer for a substantial fee.
