Chris Gotterup quickly became one of the PGA Tour’s best

PONTE VEDRA, Fla. — The rate of upward trajectory in Chris Gotterup’s golf career is enough to give you vertigo, it’s been so dizzying.

The 26-year-old who grew up in Little Silver, N.J., down the Shore, and played at Rutgers, has become one of the big boys on the PGA Tour — literally (at 6-foot, 210 pounds and one of the longest hitters in the game) and statistically (he’s ranked No. 7 in the world and is the only player who’s won more than once in 2026).

A year ago, Gotterup was simply trying to make cuts, play weekends, and get into the Tour’s big-boy tournaments.

He missed the cut in five of his first seven starts in 2025 and in eight of his first 12 events.
