Former PGA Tour pro Colt Knost decided to take a subtle dig at LIV Golf during the third round coverage at the WM Phoenix Open.
Knost, a former PGA Tour member who now works as an on-course commentator for the CBS broadcast team, made his feelings clear as he took in the scene at TPC Scottsdale’s rowdy par-3 16th.
Thousands of fans went nuts as Emiliano Grillo made a slam-dunk ace on Friday and they were hoping for more fireworks in round three.
“There are 24,000 people circled around the coliseum,” Knost said during Saturday’s coverage. “That’s 12,000 times two if I’m not mistaken.”

The comment was a clear reference to the fact the first round of LIV Golf’s curtain-raiser in Riyadhdrew in an average of just 12,000 viewers in FOX Sports’ first-ever broadcast of the breakaway circuit.
LIV even played their first event of the 2025 campaign under lights to try and attract a U.S. audience.
Each round in Saudi Arabia got underway at 6.15pm local time.
Adrian Meronk landed his first ever LIV title and in the immediate aftermath of his victory made it clear he is eyeing up a spot in the U.S. Open.
Earlier in the week the USGA became the first major to announce a direct pathway for players from the PIF-backed circuit to gain entry.
