The acclaimed Broomsedge Golf Club in Rembert, South Carolina, is entering a partnership to create a “welcoming private club” model with Baker Thompson at the helm and Michael Keiser, Jr. as a senior advisor.
Keiser and Thompson have worked together for the past decade at Sand Valley, where Thompson initially financed lodging before taking on a larger operating role. At Broomsedge, Thompson will serve as managing partner and CEO, while majority owner Cody Sundberg shifts into the role of president. Keiser will act as senior advisor, lending his experience and resources to help elevate Broomsedge’s hospitality offerings, including cottages and food and beverage.
Since opening, Broomsedge has been notably accommodating to outside play, and this partnership will formalize and expand that approach. The expectation is a structure similar to the Lido at Sand Valley, where members have designated access windows while public tee times are available on select days throughout the week.
Before this announcement, the Mike Koprowski and Kyle Franz design — routed across a dynamic, rolling property, highlighted by a set of standout greens — had already emerged as one of the most talked-about new courses in the country and was widely regarded among the best in South Carolina. With increased public access, it should quickly enter the conversation as one of the best courses in the Carolinas and Georgia that the public can actually play, alongside places like Pinehurst and the Ocean Course at Kiawah.

Broomsedge sits in South Carolina’s Sandhills, a region that has seen a surge in development in the 2020s, including projects like The Tree Farm and Old Barnwell in nearby Aiken. The course is just outside Camden, within two hours of Charlotte and about 45 minutes from Columbia.
