Ben Foster predicts the best possible finish for Man Utd in 2025/26,  ‘absolutely loved it’

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster is optimistic of a big turnaround for the club this season.

After a 15th placed finish in 2024/25, the only way is up for Manchester United. The question is just how high Ruben Amorim’s side can rise in 2025/26?

Three major signings have provided hope to the fanbase, along with an unbeaten pre-season.

Legendary midfielder Roy Keane is tentative in his optimism, predicting United could finish ‘8th or 9th’ in the upcoming campaign.

Ben Foster is more optimistic, praising the positive signs he has seen in the transfer window.

Ben Foster on Manchester United

Ben Foster says he is excited by the signings Manchester United have made in the transfer window, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

Foster says he feels Manchester United can finish in fifth place, if everything comes together.

He said: “I love United’s transfer window so far. I’ve absolutely loved it. I think it’s taken them and changed from another mid-table disappointing season to genuinely looking alongside Newcastle and Villa this year.

“It’s going to be really interesting. I’ll put it out there, if United get off to a good start, a very good start, United can finish fifth this season.”

Foster has been an outspoken critic of Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana and says a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez would be a difference maker that would guarantee his prediction.

“If they get another goalkeeper in, if Emi Martinez signed for Man Utd they will finish fifth this season.”

Foster anticipates strong reaction if United win opener

Ben Foster believes that a Manchester United victory against Arsenal would invite a strong reaction from the fans and media, potentially even an overreaction.

“If they beat Arsenal first game of the season, you’re going, ‘United are back’.”

But he believes that whatever the outcome, United have strengthened the squad with quality players that will help them as the season progresses.

“I love the players they’ve signed, Sesko looks like he’s got bundles, Cunha and Mbeumo, I love them two anyway, energy to burn.
