Andreas Schjelderup has attracted interest from Leeds United ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Leeds start their Premier League campaign at home to Everton in nine days, and the lack of attacking reinforcements will be a concern ahead of the clash.
The Whites have tried and failed in several pursuits of targets, with the blow of Igor Paixao’s move to Marseille right up at the top of the list.
However, as revealed by MOT Leeds News, Leeds had scouts in attendance to watch Benfica’s Schjelderup, and should a deal be pursued, it could be the biggest addition yet.

Leeds would be getting a superstar in the making with Schjelderup
Daniel Farke needs to see movement on the attacking transfer front before next weekend, and if Leeds do pursue a move for Schjelderup, it would be a huge statement of ambition.
While the Norwegian didn’t have the best season for Benfica, he showed plenty of signs of being a top-class winger, which is exactly what Leeds need, while also showing his quality in seven Champions League appearances.
Via Fotmob, the 21-year-old averaged 0.43 xG per 90, which is slightly higher than what Leeds-linked Manor Solomon achieved in the Championship.
- Made Norway debut in 2024
- Seven Champions League appearances last season
- Nine goal contributions in all competitions
He averaged 0.53 assists per 90 on top of this, showcasing his ability to carve out opportunities for teammates, with 2.47 chances created per game.
Schjelderup is very good at carrying the ball up the pitch with 1.59 completed dribbles per game, which puts him in the top 71 per cent of players for his position.
There is still a lot of work to be done for the Whites, but this would be a massive step forward if a deal can be struck.

Who else do Leeds need to sign this summer?
The addition of a striker is an absolute must, and without it, Leeds’ chances of avoiding relegation will be decreased significantly.
They can’t afford to hang their hopes on Joel Piroe to get the goals, and with Mateo Joseph set to leave on loan, those efforts will surely be accelerated over the weekend.
