How much Chelsea want to sell Raheem Sterling this summer, it would cost even more to pay him off his deal

Raheem Sterling has been on a pretty steep decline since he joined Chelsea three years ago.

Despite having an incredible career in the Premier League, winning four titles, Raheem Sterling has dipped since his move to Chelsea in the 2022 summer window.

The English winger was inconsistent during his first two years at the club, which led to him spending last season out on loan with Arsenal, where he didn’t enjoy much success.

2023/24 Chelsea 43 10 11
2024/25 Arsenal 28 1 5

It was reported back in March that Chelsea planned to sell Sterling this summer because he’s not in the plans moving forward. He’s still under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2027, so will they be able to find the right suitor?

Even though Fulham have an interest in signing Sterling, the 30-year-old attacker would need to lower his wages to end up at Craven Cottage.

How much Chelsea want for Raheem Sterling sale

According to The Sun, Sterling is not in Enzo Maresca’s plans at Chelsea and is up for sale this summer.

It is explained that both parties are relaxed about finding a solution in this window, with the Blues preferring to sell the player.

Apparently, Chelsea want to recoup £20m on the £47.5m they paid for Sterling three years ago to sign him from Manchester City. The report adds that it would cost north of £30m to pay off the remainder of his deal.

It highlights the fall of Sterling that the club are happy to take a £27.5m hit on a player they splashed the cash for a few years ago.

Sterling, along with other unwanted Chelsea individuals, is currently training at Cobham while they wait for their futures to be sorted. The sooner the better for all the players to find new clubs ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Chelsea were desperate to sell Sterling in 2024 before he ended up joining Arsenal on a season-long loan, so let’s wait and see if the outcome is any different this summer.
