Collin Morikawa is on the hunt for a new long-term caddie once again, after splitting with Joe Greiner.
Morikawa got off to a solid start at the Rocket Classic on Thursday, with a round of three-under par 69, but all the talk surrounding him centred on the revolving door policy he seems to have now regarding his caddies.
It was at the start of May when Morikawa officially split with long-term caddie JJ Jakovac.
Then just a week later, the two-time major champion linked up with Greiner – Max Homa‘s former caddie.

After working together for just two days, Morikawa described Greiner as ‘amazing’, but unfortunately things didn’t work out for the pair in the end.
So what’s next for the 28-year-old?
Collin Morikawa on what he’s looking for in his next caddie after Joe Greiner split
Morikawa is obviously not only very demanding of himself, but of his caddies as well.
The 28-year-old from California has struggled with his game over the past couple of years, and he is winless since he triumphed at the Zozo Championship in October 2023.
So will another change on the bag help him get back into the winners’ circle?
He responded when asked what he is looking for in his next caddie.
Morikawa said: “I mean, there’s a lot. Like I said, it’s a relationship. It’s like asking if you weren’t married or if you are married, like — right, OK.

“Well, it’s like asking a 20-year-old or 15-year-old what does your future wife look like, right? There’s a lot of things you could say, but just because you say it doesn’t mean that’s actually what comes together.
“It’s a partnership, we both give and we both take. For me it’s just being able to be comfortable out there trusting them and just having a good time. Like I said, it’s hard because everyone’s very different. You spend so much time with them that, you know, you learn the ins and outs of someone.“
Morikawa is clearly searching for something but it could actually be argued that he just needs to simplify things and go back to basics.
Collin Morikawa’s wins on the PGA Tour
Considering the fact that he’s only 28, Morikawa has achieved a lot in his career so far.
He has six PGA Tour wins to his name in total, including two major championships.
Year | Wins | Tournaments |
2023 | 1 | Zozo Championship |
2021 | 2 | The Open Championship World Golf Championships-Workday Championship at The Concession |
2020 | 2 | PGA Championship Workday Charity Open |
2019 | 1 | Barracuda Championship |
The challenge for Morikawa now will be to work even harder in practice and to get the job done whenever he gets in contention.
However, whether a new caddie will help him on that quest remains to be seen.
