Hole in one at Hunstanton Golf Club leads to £470 bar bill

The lucky – and costly – shot was made by Julia West on the 14th green during a charity golf day held at Hunstanton Golf Club on June 20 in support of the RNLI.

Tradition dictates that anyone scoring a hole in one buys a drink for everyone at the bar, leading to the hefty tab.

Mrs West, who has played golf for 17 years, said: “It’s the first one I’ve ever had and it’s going to cost me a fortune.

Despite the surprise expense, she remained upbeat.

Mrs West said: “As a team we had a great round of golf.

“There was lots of money raised for the RNLI and a fun, happy day for everyone.”

The event saw 45 teams of four take part, with play continuing from 7.30am until 2.30pm.

The golf day has raised an estimated £150,000 for the RNLI over the years.
