- Priced at Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Available in a single, fully-loaded variant
Volkswagen India introduced the Golf GTI in the country earlier this week, with prices starting at Rs. 53 lakh (ex-showroom). The performance-oriented premium hatchback is available in a single, fully-loaded variant with all the bells and whistles in tow.
The new Golf GTI, which arrives in the country via the CBU route, is limited to 150 units in the first batch, and the carmaker confirmed that all these units have been pre-booked by its customers. Seeing the impressive response, the brand now plans to bring in another batch of 100 units in the coming months. While a timeline for the second batch of the 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI has not yet been confirmed, it is believed that it will arrive by early next year, with pre-bookings likely to commence towards the end of the current calendar year.
The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre, TSI petrol engine coupled with a seven-speed DCT automatic transmission. This motor, which produces 265bhp and 370Nm, allows for a sprint from standstill to 100kmph in 5.9 seconds, all the way up to a top speed of 267kmph.

The success of the Golf GTI, according to initial pre-bookings, comes as a pleasant surprise, considering the market’s response to the Polo GTI that was launched in India back in 2016, with prices starting at Rs. 25.65 lakh (ex-showroom). The latter did not receive a positive response in the market, which resulted in the manufacturer offering heavy discounts to clear the inventory.
