VW Golf GTI More Units Expected Soon – Price Reveal May 26

Volkswagen’s sporty hatchback, the Golf GTI, has received a strong response in India. The company announced that all 150 units from the first batch have already been pre-booked earlier this month. However, the final price will be announced on May 26, so a few bookings might get cancelled after that.

Seeing the strong interest, Volkswagen is likely to bring 100 more units to India. These additional cars are likely to be delivered sometime next year.

What the India-Spec Golf GTI Offers

The Indian version of the Golf GTI comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 265hp. It uses a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and sends power to the front wheels.

The car will be offered in four colours: Moonstone Grey, Kings Red, Onyx White, and Grenadilla Black. Only the fully-loaded version will be available in India. It will include features like LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, paddle shifters, launch control, digital instrument cluster, 12.9-inch touchscreen, and ADAS (advanced safety features). The car will also get a limited-slip differential for better handling and sporty front seats for a fun driving experience.

Expected Price of the Golf GTI in India

Volkswagen has not revealed the final price yet, but it is expected to cost around Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). After adding taxes and other charges, the on-road price could go over Rs 60 lakh in some cities.

This price puts the GTI between the Mini Cooper S (Rs 44.90 lakh–Rs 55.90 lakh) and the more powerful Mercedes-AMG A 45 S, which costs Rs 94.80 lakh.

Even though it’s expensive for a hatchback, the Golf GTI is known for offering great performance, high-tech features, and the fun of a sports car in a compact size.

More Powerful Versions May Come Later

Volkswagen has not ruled out bringing more versions of the Golf in the future. A company official mentioned that they may consider launching the Golf R (a 328hp, all-wheel-drive version) or a GTI with Dynamic Chassis Control, which helps adjust the suspension for better comfort and performance.
