It’s a social sport, perfect for friendly competition or bonding with colleagues, friends and family. The game’s complexity—mastering the perfect swing, reading the greens, adjusting for weather conditions—keeps players striving for improvement. Plus, the feeling of hitting a flawless shot or sinking a long putt is incredibly rewarding.
This week, Kelley visited with Paul Hughes who discovered his passion for golf at a young age. Over the years, he has been refining his skills while recognizing the sport’s potential to shape character and discipline.
In 2023, seeing a need in his community, he founded Shore Youth Golf Club, a free program dedicated to introducing young players to the game. Through mentorship, structured training, and access to golf equipment, Hughes has made golf more accessible to aspiring athletes. His initiative not only teaches the fundamentals but also instills values like perseverance, integrity, and sportsmanship.
