The 2024 Volkswagen Golf R
has always been a performance bargain, but Tom Parker has taken that concept and strapped a jet engine to it. Back on a YouTube feature after five years, Tom’s creation is now one of the most powerful Golf Rs in the world, producing an absurd 1,088 horsepower on full boost. The kicker? He built most of it himself.
Swapping in a 2018
Audi RS3
DAZA engine, Tom transformed this Golf R into a full-fledged monster, with a custom turbo setup, upgraded gearbox, AWD system, and even a titanium exhaust he welded himself. And that’s just the beginning.

Lifting Off At Full Throttle
This car isn’t just fast—it lifts off like a speedboat under acceleration. With an extensive carbon fiber diet, including 6-pound doors, a rare Varis carbon hood, and a full race-inspired interior, this Golf R is as lightweight as it is brutal.
Volkswagen Golf R Build Highlights
- Carbon hood
- Race-inspired interior
- Up to 1,088 hp
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- 0-60 MPH in 2.6 seconds
The power delivery is so extreme that when launched, the front end physically lifts off the road, making it a terrifying experience for both driver and passenger. Tom’s tuning setup includes multiple maps, with low boost putting out 850 hp, medium boost at 950 hp, and “kill mode” unleashing the full 1,088 hp fury.
Even with its zero-bushings, all-metal suspension setup and carbon-ceramic brakes from an Audi TT RS and R8, this car still wants to break free from reality when pushed to the limit. During the test drive, the speedometer climbed faster than the host could react, leaving him in complete shock at the sheer insanity of this build.

A Golf R That Thinks It’s A Supercar
Despite its extreme modifications, Tom still daily drives this Golf R—though “daily” might be a loose term when the car struggles to keep all four wheels on the road. Even in wet conditions, it managed a 2.60-second 0-60 mph time, a number that puts some hypercars to shame.
With his shop, TCP Performance in Sheffield, Tom has been fine-tuning the Golf R and RS3 platform for years, and this build showcases his relentless pursuit of pushing boundaries. It’s a testament to what’s possible when you refuse to settle, and frankly, it’s one of the most ridiculous Golfs on the planet.
