Wildcats have the lead after day one of the Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate. The Cats were able to finish their second round but play was suspended due to light. The other teams will finish up their second round in the morning before playing the final round later that day. Two Wildcats are in the top five and are in great position to win the individual title.
Zach Pollo cards a 70 and 71 in two rounds and is tied for fifth. He played the back nine 4-under and bogey free today. Filip Jakubcik is tied with Pollo after a 69 in round one and even-par round two. Jakubcik has been very consistent and limited mistakes as he leads the field in pars made.
Johnny Walker is even par after two rounds. He shot 3-under par in his first round which included four birdies on the back nine. Matej Baca had his best round in the second round where he shot a 71. Amongst the field, Baca has the second best par five scoring average and played them 6-under par.
Griffin Rhoads played his first round 3-under par and had five birdies. He had the second best par three scoring average on day one. Tianyi Xiong shot a 74 in round one and couldn’t get anything going in round two. Jackson Norwich shot a 78 and 82 in his two rounds.
The Wildcats are in great position to secure another victory at this Arizona Thunderbird Intercollegiate. They had the best par four scoring total and the second best par five scoring average as a team. They also made the most pars out of any team.
