CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The University of Hawai’i men’s golf team wrapped up play at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational with a final round 305 Tuesday at the San Diego Country Club.
The Rainbow Warriors finished the two-day, 54-hole event with an 892 total and 16th place. Co-host San Diego State ran away with the team title at 43-under 821, 16 strokes better than co-host San Diego and Colorado.
Individually, Josh Hayashida was Hawai’i’s top finisher at 4-over 220 and a tie for 58th place. The Mililani, O’ahu native shot a final round 75.
SDSU’s Justin Hastings broke the tournament record with a 16-under 200 to win medalist honors. BYU’s Simon Kwon and SDSU’s Harry Takis tied for runner-up at 12-under 204.
Also competing for the Warriors were James Whitworth (78=224; t-72nd), Anson Cabello (77=226; t-79th), Tyler Ogawa (75=226; t-79th), and Dane Watanabe (79=228; 84th).
Hawai’i will next compete in the Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, March 17-18 in Tucson, Ariz.
