Brighton & Hove Albion
Brighton boss Dario Vidosic speaking to TNT Sports: “I’m very delighted. We would’ve loved to play with the ball a little bit more, but I heard about the conditions of the pitch this morning and I spoke to the girls at the hotel about maybe needing to adapt. Once we got here and had a walk on it throughout the warm-up, we noticed it really wasn’t a good pitch to play on so we just elected to be a little bit more direct in that first phase.
“I thought we did that well in the first 20 minutes, then we maybe lost our way a little bit which is normal against a great squad, but it was a great reaction. We were excellent defensively as well, we covered a lot of ground and closed the spaces we needed to. It is a fantastic result and it puts us in the hat for the next round.
“We showed a lot of experience as well, from a lot of young players out there, so this will benefit us a lot in the long run. We break away now for the international break, so fingers crossed they all come back healthy as we’ve only just got a full-bill of health pretty much.”
On goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie: “She was brilliant when she was called upon, but I don’t think she was called upon too much. She did make some fantastic saves when she needed to though. We know Arsenal have a lot of firepower, we saw that with the three substitutions they made, but we stood up to the test.”
On Fran Kirby’s performance: “She just showed the quality that she has. We spoke about her off-pitch impact in the changing room but she played a terrific part for us today, both on and off the pitch.”
