Newcastle United have scheduled talks with Tino Livramento in the diary at the end of the season – after another week of unsettling links for the full-back.
Only just back from a winter hamstring injury, there have been multiple reports of Livramento leaving this summer with both Manchester City and Arsenal linked. Having made checks notebook can bring mixed news on the England international’s chances of staying next season.
With two years left of his deal, Newcastle can shut the door on any interest if they so please. But Chronicle Live has learned that talk of Arsenal has been dismissed by those at the top level at the Emirates Stadium with an insistence he is not on their wish-list in the next window, despite other reports.
Arsenal have a limited spending pot of just over £40m and will have to sell to buy and Newcastle will demand £100m for the ex-Chelsea youth player. As things stand at Newcastle, the Magpies want to discuss exactly what it would take to keep Livramento on board.

They also want to show him ambitious plans that will help Newcastle reach their goal of being one of the top sides in England by 2030.
Having nailed down Sven Botman on a new deal back in January, a move that ended up being the big headline of a barren window, CEO David Hopkinson wants another deal to underline the ambition on Tyneside.
As far as Man City are concerned, the Citizens have been long-term admirers of Livramento. They were given a polite “no” last summer as Livramento was assured he was a major part of the first-team at Newcastle.
But they are likely to come calling again this summer. Newcastle are ready to put up a fight for his services, but it may take a bumper contract offer to keep him happy.
Failing to qualify for the Champions League – or any form of European competition – will also weaken Newcastle’s chances – something that has already been pointed out to Hopkinson.
Joelinton getting back to his best
The Brazilian enforcer was in terrific form against Barcelona as he had the likes of Pedri and Lamine Yamal on their toes with some no-nonsense screening in midfield.
Howe is delighted to see Joelinton back in good fettle after a groin injury and now hopes that he can rise even higher at the Nou Camp. Joelinton was a star Barca players feared and Howe said this week: “He’s a huge player for us. When Joe plays like he has done the last few games, I think we’re a different team because of him. He brings that steel, mobility, to our midfield – a lot of quality as well. Joe’s an outstanding player in his own right.
“So he’s a player that really lifts the team when he’s in a good place. I think the key for us has been trying to keep him fit, because he gives so much to every game. Entering the next game in a good physical place, that’s key for us. He’s had his injury troubles this year and we’re desperate to keep him on the pitch.”
Magpies updated on injury status of £86million star
Newcastle have run recent checks on the recovery of FC Porto star Samu Aghehowa.
The 21-year-old was on Newcastle’s short-list ahead of the summer window before suffering an ACL injury that ended his season and his chances of playing at the World Cup finals for Spain
But he is currently on a long road back, and despite picking up the injury on 19 goals, his long-term fitness is being assessed by the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal.
Howe is keen on adding another striker to his wish-list ahead of the summer window. Ideally, head coach Howe wants three recognised strikers on the books for the 2026/27 term with Osula, Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa currently on board.
But Osula – who showed what he could do against Man United with a wonder goal in the 2-1 win – could be sold in the next trading period with the likes of Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt keen on the 22-year-old.
FC Porto star Aghehowa, a fully-fledged Spain international, has 19 goals to his name this term and Chronicle Live understands that his agent has been in contact with Newcastle in recent weeks to update interested clubs on his condition.
Aghehowa has an £86m release clause on his current deal, but a potential price review might be in place given his injury woes. He is believed to be making good early progress from his ACL inury but the summer may come too early for a transfer.
Newcastle could not spend a penny in the January window as they kept “powder dry” for the summer. But United will be expected to do business in the summer from their fanbase, especially if they emerge empty-handed this term and don’t clinch a place in Europe.
