Liverpool beat Wolves last time out to progress further in the FA Cup
Wolves defender Hugo Bueno has said they ‘couldn’t deal’ with Liverpool on Friday night. The Reds won 3-1 at Molineux to progress further in the FA Cup. Andy Robertson, Mo Salah and Curtis Jones got their goals in the Midlands.
Arne Slot’s side are back in action on Tuesday night. They face a trip to Istanbul to play Galatasaray in the Champions League. The Merseyside giants then lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next weekend.
Wolves defender Hugo Bueno reacts to Liverpool loss
Wolves left-back Bueno said after their defeat to Liverpool: “They were two very different games [against Liverpool]. Today they really showed their level, they were on it and we couldn’t deal with it I don’t think. We carried on going but had to do more to beat a team like Liverpool.
“I always try to do my best. Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it doesn’t go as well as you’d want. We just have to keep going, that’s it.”
He added: “We just have to win every game, we know that and it’s clear. We have eight finals left and we’re going to give 100 per cent in every single game. We don’t have any other option; we have to go and win. It doesn’t matter who, the situation, nothing matters, we just have to go and win it. We know that and we’re going to work for it.
“He (Edwards) just tries to motivate us the maximum he can. He tries to give us the game plan really easy, so we can follow it and stick to it 100 per cent. He tries to bring everyone together and have us fighting for the same objective.”
What now for Liverpool?
Liverpool will find out who they will play next in the FA Cup on Monday night. They will fancy their chances of winning the competition this year after seeing off Wolves. The Reds last won it back in 2006.
Slot will be relieved to have seen his players bounce back from their league loss to Wolves. The Dutchman will be hoping his team can find a bit more consistency over the coming weeks. They will be in for a tough test at Galatasaray and they will need to be at their best to get something in Istanbul in what will be a hostile environment.
Liverpool have underperformed in the Premier League in this campaign. They won the title last term and haven’t been able to reach the same heights. Slot has been backed by the hierarchy at Anfield though and they are still on course to get into the top five as things stand.
