Doncaster Rovers 0-4 Cardiff City: Bluebirds respond to Plymouth loss in style

Cardiff City returned to winning ways as they claimed an emphatic victory over Doncaster Rovers at Eco-Power Stadium.

After their 12-game unbeaten league run was ended at Plymouth Argyle last time out, the Bluebirds responded in style to earn a 22nd League One victory of the campaign.

Having controlled proceedings from the outset, Cardiff were rewarded on 26 minutes as Dylan Lawlor’s sumptuous delivery found Alex Robertson who took the ball on his chest before coolly netting his fourth goal of the campaign.

The central midfielder’s strike ensured Brian Barry-Murphy’s side have scored in 22 successive league games.

However, the Bluebirds survived a scare when Harry Clifton fired wide with the home side’s best opening shortly after the half hour mark.

But Cardiff doubled their lead in sublime style shortly after the restart as Lawlor ran from his own half, evading multiple challenges in doing so, before drilling a low effort into the bottom corner.
