Ipswich Town: Alex Jones’ player ratings from Bristol City draw

Alex Palmer

Nothing he could have done about the opener, and he wasn’t tested too often in the first half. Made a good stop to deny Sinclair Armstrong late on. 6

Darnell Furlong

Didn’t look as assured against a threatening winger in Anis Mehmeti. Almost punished after a poor back header went wrong. Still managed to prevent his man from doing any real damage to Town. 6

Dara O’Shea

Had his hands full but looked solid. His pace once again proving to be a key asset. Really calm in important moments. 6

Jacob Greaves

Two sides to his game. Off the ball, he looked pretty sharp, with big tackles and close marking helping Ipswich against some fast forwards. On the ball, he undercooked his passes down the left too many times. 6

Leif Davis

Ipswich’s biggest threat going forward. Bristol City couldn’t handle his overlapping runs, and he was unfortunate not to walk away with an assist. 7 (Man of the Match)

Azor Matusiwa

Looked physical and industrious in the centre of the park. It wasn’t his fault that Town lacked the spark to create regular chances. 7

Marcelino Nunez

Not a full debut to remember. When afforded space, he was able to make things happen and knit play together, but he looked shaky under pressure. His slip almost saw Ipswich fall two behind in the first half. 5

Kasey McAteer

Doesn’t look totally sure of what to do in the final third still. His best chance came from a corner that the goalkeeper eventually managed to claim. 5

Chuba Akpom

Dropped deep into midfield, but we’re yet to see a great deal of attacking contributions from open play. Won the penalty that led to the equaliser, but he may have been quite fortunate to convince the referee. 5

Jack Clarke’s penalty helped Town earn a point(Image: Ross Halls)

Jack Clarke

Not a dazzling display on the left, but showed enough to make him one of Town’s brighter lights at Ashton Gate. Lots of trickery and quick footwork – when it came off, it looked good. Took his penalty well for his third of the season. 7

Ivan Azon

Attempting to emulate the striker ahead of him in the pecking order, he ran relentlessly and chased everything. Took a nasty whack to the back of his head too. Some sloppy moments on the ball but mostly linked play well and tried to make stuff happen with little service. 6

Substitute: George Hirst (73′)

Had arguably Ipswich’s best chance of the second half, nodding over the crossbar from a corner. 6

Substitute: Jaden Philogene (73′)

Nice tricks and flicks, but unable to impact the final third. 6

Substitute: Jens Cajuste (73′)

Slotted into a physical midfield battle and helped Town stabilise in the final stages. 6

Substitute: Sammie Szmodics (79′)

Scooped a shot over the bar but had just four touches. 6

Substitute: Sindre Walle Egeli (83′)

Wasted a late free-kick, but didn’t have many opportunities to do much more. 6
