LONG-TERM target Michel-Ange Balikwisha is on the brink of a £4.5million move to Celtic.
Brendan Rodgers is finally about to get his man after being on the trail of the Belgian winger for over a YEAR, as CQN reported in July 2924.
Following intense negotiations with the 24-year-old’s club Royal Antwerp and his representatives, the deal is about to get the green light with Balikwisha ready to sign a five-year deal at the champions.
SALUTE…Michel-Ange Balikwisha celebrates a goal for Royal Antwerp.
The former Belgium youth international is expected in Glasgow within the forthcoming days and the switch will be rubber-stamped when the Hoops return from Tuesday’s Champions League play-off second leg against Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan.
After watching the side’s 3-0 win over Livingston at Parkhead to take over pole position in the Premiership, Rodgers, speaking to the Daily Record, admitted: “There’s a number of players we’ve been at for a number of months.
“So, we’ll see over the next 48 hours what that looks like.”
The initial move last year stalled after the player suffered a muscle tear that kept him sidelined for months.
However, Balikwisha has made a full recovery and his club have reluctantly accepted the Hoops’ offer with the left-sided winger coming out of contract at the end of the season.
Rodgers is in urgent need of strength on the flanks after Nicolas Kuhn’s £17.2million move to Como, Marco Tilio’s £1.3million switch to Rapid Vienna and Luis Palma’s loan arrangement with Lech Poznan.
